New Computer System for HVRN!

Upon my return from the week in the hospital, I came back to a VERY nice surprise!  As most of you are aware, I have been broadcasting on the same computer system for several years now.  Though this system has been updated as much as possible, it just couldn't handle the heavy task of daily broadcasting any longer and became very unstable.  Our new friends over at Kelsey Live (Special thanks to TOD HD) became aware of our dilemma and wanted to help.

It has been awhile since my last blog entry and I do apologize!  Where to begin with all of this?  First off I would like to thank all of you for the very kind wishes and support while I was in the hospital.  I am feeling much better and just had a bit of a scare is all..

 I have hear a lot of feed back from our fans and they really miss us playing our past archive shows!  Well all of this is changing very soon and you will have your wish.  We are now in the process of upgrading our radio broadcasting system and due to it being far more stable than our current system, well be able to run our broadcast for your 24/7!

A Weekend for the Books

This week was a very long won as I put a ton of hours in at the studio.  I was so ready for Saturday to catch up on some family time as well as some much needed rest.  I slept in this morning and woke up to my beautiful wife Kristina and the kids!  We haven't been together for quite some time so I took advantage of making up some lost time with them.  

Spring is almost here!

I don't know about any of you, but I am so ready for spring!  This winter really hasn't been a long one but sure feels like it.  It has been so gray and dreary lately!  I will be the first to admit the winter is one of my favorite seasons.  Not because of the cold and snow but because there are no BEES!  I am allergic and they scare me to death.  I have been doing some reading (Yes, I read books) and I have to give some  big kudos to you authors out there.  The way they take the reader right into the book is amazing and much better than television.  This image above is an example of...

HVRN True Scary Encounter Story Contest

The Haunted Voices Radio Network is holding a new contest for our members and fans.  We want your TRUE scary stories or paranormal encounters.  These stories must be paranormal in nature such as a ghost sighting, UFO sighting, alien abduction, and more.  Please be sure and tell us the truth and not exaggerate on the occurrence.  This contest will run from March 1^st through March 31^st with the winner being announced on the air Thursday April 1^st 2010.

Kelsey Grammer & Todd Bates Birthday Bash!

Well it is that time of year again everyone!  We all have Birthdays and would like the very best for each of them.  I will admit that the past few birthdays of mine were pretty bad.  In2008 I was laid up in the hospital after surgery (Chrones disease) so that had me down for quite some time.  Here it is 2010 and I am going to have the BEST birthday ever starting tomorrow February21st.  I have been broadcasting over here at Kelsey live for a few weeks now and I finally got to speak with Kelsey and learned that his birthday is the same as mine.  What are the odds!

When on the air Thursday night, TODHD had mentioned me coming in to do a show and have Kelsey on there with me.  I was really excited about it but let him know that I would have to check with my wife Kris just to be sure there were no special plans.  You see, my wife Kris and I celebrate both our birthdays & valentines day all on my birthday since her's is on the 7th of February.  So this year I asked he to co host the show with me (she use to do that quite a bit).  She agreed to do the show with me on my birthday so I let TODHD know that the show was on!  He decided to call it the "Kelsey Grammer & Todd Bates Birthday Bash". 

This show is going to ROCK and I am really excited to get it going.  We will have some special callers and even a psychic reading from our friends Derrick Whiteskycloud and Psychic Detective Annette Martin!  What a special birthday treat that will be!  I will be writing a before and after blog of the event and also talk about some "behind closed door" outtakes and such from the show.  I will also be posting this on my personal blog at www.toddbates.blogspot.com !

Valentines Day Weekend

Meeting Actor Kelsey Grammer

We have all seen him on our favorite shows like Cheers, and Fraizer in the past as well as today.  Of course i am talking about Mr. Kelsey Grammer.  I had the honor of meeting him on twitter.  Kelsey is a one of a  kind celebrity that really cares about his fans by speaking with them. It all happened one day when I was just tweeting away and one of my followers said that I should check out this website www.kelseylive.com to see what it was about.  So I go to the website and sign up (Free Membership) and within seconds, was greeted by a lot of its members.

New Community Now Open!

Well you have all asked for something like this for quite some time now and I am happy to say that it has finally arrived!  The HVRN community is now open to the general public for use.  This is a fantastic place which all of you can interact, share photos, video, and audio as well as use "The Wire" to message anyone in the community.

What a LONG day today folks!  I got up today about 8:30am and my back was still sore but I managed to get around and make the morning coffee.  While waking up a bit, I though I would read a few things online to kind of stimulate my brain a bit.  Well I get to my email and see a TON of weird people following me on our main twitter page.  I went to the page to see what was going on and I couldn't believe my eyes at all

Painful Day Off

Today was a really painful day!  I hurt my back Sunday and it sees to be getting worse each day.  I think it is a pulled muscle or something.  If it was any worse then I would be able to walk.  I look like I am 9 months pregnant the way I walk with it LOL.  It hurts SO bad and the throbbing and pulsing of my lower back is the worst!  Other than that it was a pretty good day.  I spent some time with the family and finally got to sit down for a meal with them.

Air Strike Radio & Planet Paranormal

I really enjoy doing the Air Strike radio shows as they are really different from those at HVRN.  It is more of a "cover all" type show and one of a kind.  Joel and I have really worked hard with the new show and our friendship has grown as well.  It is very hard to find a good co-host to work with now a days and fate brought our two talents together thats for sure.

Air Strike is really making a buzz out there in the world today and I am very proud to be a part of it.  Just recently, a network called Planet Paranormal adopted Air Strike as one of their top programs.  This will bring and even bigger listeners base to the program and I couldn't be happier.  Joel is also working with the Talk LIVE affiliate and that will reach a completly different type of demographic.  I really see this program taking off "No pun intended" and I will be there for the long haul as well as help as much with its success that I can.

Getting back to 100%

All is going really well with the new medication change with just a few side effects.  Nothing I haven't been through before or can't handle.  It will all work out for the best and I can already feel a huge change in my personality.  It is almost scary to be my old self again as I have been in the hole for so long!  Last Saturday was great as I took Keirsten out bowling.

Waking Up From The Darkness

Today was a very special day for me.  I haven't felt this good in years!  Usually when I wake up in the morning I lay there for quite awhile and debate getting out of bed at all.  All of this has now changed for the good.  I have what is called BiPolar syndrome and am not the only one in the world with it.  I am suppose to be taking medication each day, several times a day to help manage it.

Back in June of 09 I was so sick and tired of taking pills everyday, not only for my BiPolar but my Chron's as well.  I decided one of these had to go.  I then made the stupid decision of throwing all of my mental health medication in the trash.  I went without it all of this time until the 1st of this month.  I was in the deepest an darkest depression I have ever been in and swallowed my pride and got help.  I was perscribed new medication that had some severe side effects and made me slur my words, and we all know that doing talk radio and that just doesent mix.  I was like this for a week but just knew that it would get better and I would adjust to it.  Well today that happend!  I woke up feeling so alive and ready to take on the day just like I use to.  I wasn't sluring, stumbling, or glassy eyed.  I was in a very good mood and everyone around me noticed a  drastic change and all of this happened overnight.

Time For Change

Well the holiday season is over and we are all being given a new beginning.  It is only 4 days in to the new year and I have made many changes already.  Christmas was really hard on me this year as I really missed my parents.  I haven't talked to either of them in over 10 years.  This year I decided to break that cycle by
writing them a letter, not a text, email, or ecard, but a actual letter.

Welcome To 2010

We have all been waiting anxiously for the new year to arrive and I must say that I would be the most to anticipate this.  Although 2009 wasn't that bad of a year but there just wasn't enough impact there for me.  2010 will be bringing some great changes along with it on both the work level as well as my life at home.  I have made quite a few New year resolutions and just hope I can stick with them!
