I have been working with these social networks for years now and they are getting awful! Spam seems to be everywhere these days and you can't even tell if a friend your adding is a bot or a real person anymore. That is pretty sad and we all need to buckle down and be careful of who we add. Virus's and hack attempts are everywhere now and on the rise.
Today I was going through our main Myspace page www.myspace.com/hauntedvoices and found that it was absolutely loaded with trash. I cleaned out what I could and then told myself "I just can't keep up with this one anymore" and decided to start fresh. I am starting to create more personal social outlets instead of the main company ones as this makes it more interesting for me.
When you just have a company space, then everyone wants to be on there so they can send their cheap promotions and things. I can say this because I am just as guilty of it. We use our social networks to update our friends and family what is going on in our lives and businesses use them to promote their content or products. That is just the american way because if you don't advertise, no one knows your there, it is that simple.
Just where do we draw the line with them? You can't live with them or without them and they drastically impact out lives now. People even have sent a tweet while on the altar getting married all the way down to having sex and what position they are in! This is crazy but people naturally want to brag and boast on their current status in life because they want people to see that they are not alone as well as what they have archived in their life. This is nothing to be ashamed of as we all need and think this from time to time but there is a line that we should not cross. We need to keep some things private in life as that is what makes us individuals and not some kind of sex crazed robots.
I hope we all can use these outlets for the good of us all and not to publicly slander or humiliate another human being (I have seen this so many times). This is why I created a new Myspace page for myself, so I could be more selective with whom I would like to become friends with. It is nothing personal to those I don't add to the page, but lets be honest. If we are going to add a friend to the page, then it should be someone we talk to often and not just add them to see how many friends we can get in a week. A lot of us are in completion to get the most friends on these outlets and that is nuts!
This has become such an interesting topic to me, that I would like to dedicate a 2 hours special just on social networks and how they effect our daily lives. I think a lot of you would be very surprised as to what is said as well as the shocking statistics that will be brought forth to you all. I am all for these social networks as my wife and I both really enjoy them. I just hope we can all remain civil while using them and do our very best to use them for the right reasons!
